PEMF - What Is It?
Pulsed electromagnetic field therapy replicates the Earth's natural magnetic field.
The therapy originated from NASA's research involving the benefits of pulsed electromagnetic fields on astronauts for fatigue, depression, bone loss and other symptoms following even short trips to outer space. Scientists discovered that the cause was due to astronauts being without this beneficial natural field emanating from earth.
How Does It Work?
Think of PEMF as a battery charger for your cells. The voltage of a healthy cell is about 70-110 millivolts and when we get sick that voltage drops below 50 millivolts. Once our cells drop below that level they are unable to heal so they remain dysfunctional. By inducing a mild electrical magnetic current into damaged cells, PEMF therapy slows or stops the release of pain and inflammatory mediators, increases blod flow of the cells and reestablishes normal cell interaction. Faster tissue healing occurs.
What Are The Benefits?
PEMF therapy has scientifically documented beneficial effects on multiple biological tissues ranging from bone to brain.
The reason for these beneficial effects is because PEMF therapy triggers a cascade of biological processes that supports ailing tissues.
Before any chemical or physiologic response is elicited in a biological system, there is always an exchange of energy.
The use of specific pulsed electromagnetic frequencies prompts this therapeutic exchange of energy in a safe and cost-effective manner.
